FLL - FIRST Lego League
Hosting the 2016 Sherbrooke FLL Qualifier
On the 20th of February 2016, Team Evolution 2626 hosted the 2016 Sherbrooke FLL Qualifying Tournament at the Séminaire de Sherbrooke. We welcomed over 150 participants and dozens of spectators, including eager classmates and robotics enthusiasts. This event was historic, as it was the first FLL event to ever be hosted by a Francophone FRC team.
Thank you to this year's participating schools:
Alexander Galt High School
École de la Chantignole
Richmond High School
École Montessori
École Vision
École Secondaire La Ruche

History of the FLL Program
Even if Séminaire of Sherbrooke participated at numerous junior robotics competition through the past years, it's in 2013 that Evolution 2626 created two FLL teams. In fact, two students from 2626, William Forret and Corinne Philippon, started these teams by being their mentors. These two teams are mostly constituted of Secondary 2 students (Grade 8). We must not forget the important participation and help from coaches Guillaume Laporte and Carol Brown who permitted the creation of these FLL teams.

The teams, named Evolution1 and Evolution2, created their robot, their project, their mascot and even their logo. As well as the FRC competition, FLL is more than a simple robot. These two teams, for their first participation to FLL, performed very well. Indeed, Evolution1 won the Robot Performance Award and the "Professionnalisme coopératif" Award, and Evolution2 won the Teamwork Award.
FLL - FIRST Lego League - is a robotics program reaching students aged between 9 and 14 years old that offers differents challenges each year. In fact, the numerous challenges turn aroud a same theme that changes each year. Also, with each challenge, the students must create a project in link with the challenge asked.
For the 2013 season, the challenge name was "Senior Solutions". In fact, the students have to build and program a robot able to do the most challenges in 2 minute. Each challenge gives a different amount of points and all the challenges were linked to the problems that seniors can live. Moreover, the kids have to create a project - an invention, a presentation, etc. - as a solution for a problem that seniors could live.
